Privacy Policy

Industry Index is operated by Build Px(“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through payindex.info, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

Salary checker.If you use the salary checker, we ask for your name and email address before showing your benchmark. You may also choose to provide information about your role — such as your profession, specialisation, level, location, salary, employer size, sectors and project types — to sharpen your result. Providing these details is voluntary.

Organisation surveys.If your organisation participates in the State of the Industry survey, we collect the information your organisation submits — such as organisation details, workforce and market responses, and remuneration data — together with the name and email of the people completing it.

Accounts. If you create an account, our sign-in provider processes your email address and, where you choose a social sign-in (such as Google or Microsoft), the basic profile details that provider shares.

Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting providers log basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) to keep the service running and secure. We do not use advertising trackers.

How we use it

• show you your salary benchmark and, where you opt in, send you updated salary insights as the market moves;
• build the anonymised, aggregated industry dataset that powers Industry Index reports and benchmarks;
• give participating organisations their benchmark reports;
• operate, secure and improve the service; and
• contact you about your account or submissions where needed.

Your individual answers are never shown to other people or organisations. Published statistics are always aggregated and anonymised, and we apply minimum sample thresholds so no individual or organisation can be identified from them.

Marketing and your choices

We only send market updates and salary insights if you tick the box asking for them. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time by using that link or contacting us. We do not sell personal information.

Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that help us run Industry Index — for example our website hosting, database hosting, sign-in and email delivery providers. These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations. Some providers may store data outside Australia; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with Australian privacy law. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Storage and security

Personal information is stored in secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure. Access within Build Px is limited to the people who need it to operate the service. We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above, then delete or de-identify it. De-identified, aggregated statistics may be retained indefinitely as part of the industry dataset.

Access, correction and deletion

You can ask us at any time to access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email us at people@buildpx.co and we will respond within a reasonable time. Deleting your personal information does not affect anonymised statistics already published, which cannot be traced back to you.

Cookies

We use only the cookies necessary for the site to function (for example, keeping you signed in). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first at people@buildpx.co and we will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at payindex.info/privacy, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
